Early Work Jamaica (1994–1995)
Toasting The Trough (1995), is a political satire located on old plantation grounds. The idea of the swimming pool as a national resource, a “trough”, pillaged by thieving politicians was inspired by the late Jamaican talk show host Motty Perkins. The new order and their entourage present themselves as advocates of radical change, yet in reality many are thinly masked hypocrites who revel in the same sins as their colonial predecessors: pride, envy, greed, anger, gluttony, lust, and sloth. Other notable satires include The Ex-Pat (1994), The Hanging Garden (1994), and from the Queen Victoria series, Privy To The Adventures Of Nation Building (1995).
