Kiss the Ring (2020–2021)
Kiss The Ring is inspired by the Covid 19 pandemic, bats, mafia/mobster themes in a world run by thugs, and wild meat. The Bat, half-bird, half-beast, is somehow apart and in-between, not fitting into the normal order of things. Bats are a natural reservoir of many pathogens and are considered the most likely source of the novel Coronavirus. Monster Mergers in which viruses invade human bodies as their hosts, are created by man’s destructive environmental, ecological and lifestyle practices. Pricks and Predators expands the mobster theme of power, corruption and violence, and adds the jab.
My Covid Street series, set in the streets of Port of Spain, is a visceral response to our altered visual landscape. We all experienced claustrophobia, isolation, desperation, the ridiculous and its many paradoxes, with the emergence of the Coronavirus.
