Creatures and Other Works (1998–2022)

In the dark underworld Bats are re-imagined as the evil supernatural vampire Count Dracula, and as Spectres and Tricksters. Bats also present as Sacred Spirits, benefitting our planet’s ecosystems, existing with all living creatures in harmony, mutual respect and inter-dependence.

My crocodile paintings are inspired by Black River, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. My late grandmother Priscilla was born in Westmoreland, and used to spend her Saturday afternoons in the town of Black River with her parents and brothers when she was very young. There are monsters amongst us, both mythical and real: in our fairy tales; in the animal kingdom; and in the human species who have the power to snuff out life.
