Light My Fire (2023)

As the planet continues to warm, we head into dangerous uncharted territory: the possibility of an uninhabitable planet. Endling Extinction is the death of a species’ last member and its disappearance from earth. A species presumed extinct abruptly reappearing in a Lazarus-like-event remains unlikely. Is the human race heading towards mass extinction?

An increase in the frequency and severity of extreme weather events inflicts catastrophic damage to our natural environment. Intense bushfire seasons, infernos, megafires, dry lightning and toxic smoke decimate global wildlife populations and vegetation.

Toxic smoke from burning combustible materials creates hazardous health conditions for all life exposed to it and causes more fire-related deaths than the fires themselves. Poor air quality, by degree, affects most of the world’s population and results in millions of premature deaths annually.

While wildfires and toxic smoke can be destructive and deadly, they also elicit a hellish, majestic beauty and spooky glow. We live in the age of the Megafire, where awe mingles with dread.
